April — Can central banks look through oil?

Inflation • Policy • Consumer demand
THE MACRO PICTURE

WHAT IT MEANS FOR MARKETS

A central bank that keeps rates restrictive to contain inflation can increase borrowing costs for consumers and companies. If employment softens at the same time, the outlook for earnings becomes more uncertain.

GEOPOLITICAL RISK
